The title comes from the Library of Congress. Among the officers are Col. Rogers, Lt. Col. Charles Greene Sawtelle of Maine, Dr. Whyte, Capt. McGraw, Capt. James William Forsyth of Ohio (in center with beard), and Major Andrew Parker Porter of Pennsylvania. Another Gardner photograph of the same group identifies the building as the Aquia Creek Hospital.
